Since 1995, the Whittier Police Department has provided outstanding police services to the citizens and business community of Santa Fe Springs.

The Santa Fe Springs Policing team consists of Whittier Police personnel who are assigned directly to the city. The team consists of dedicated a patrol division, detective bureau, records bureau, Problem Oriented Policing Team, school resource officer, traffic enforcement, tactical team and a special occurrence response team (SORT). In all, 35 sworn and 6 support personnel are assigned to the city.

Officers get involved in community activities daily. From teaching classes in elementary schools and holding business security seminars, to bicycle patrol of parks and shopping centers, the Whittier Police Department has built a high level of public confidence and improved the relationship between residents and the police. When the community feels good about their police department, they are more likely to report problems.

A team of Public Safety Officers (PSOs) help patrol officers with daily tasks such as report taking, traffic control and contact with the community.

The Police Services Center building serves as the Whittier Police "Sub Station" in Santa Fe Springs (11576 Telegraph Road). It is staffed by city personnel, PSOs, and houses the detective bureau, records bureau and problem oriented policing team. The Staging Facility which is also located in Santa Fe Springs, houses the patrol division.

The Whittier Police Department utilizes a geographical policing deployment model that assigns entire teams of officers to a specific community policing area of the city. All of our officers and supervisors are community policing trained and work daily to improve the quality of life in the city.
