On Thursday 5/9/24 at about 12:19 am officers responded to a call of a suspicious person on the property at Mike Thompson’s RV located at 13940 Firestone Blvd in the city of Santa Fe Springs. Upon arrival, officers saw smoke coming from the rear of the business near some railroad tracks. Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire-Rescue was requested immediately as the fire quickly spread, damaging several trailers on the property. Upon arrival, Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire-Rescue was able to extinguish the fire.
 
The person who was reported on the property could not be located. The Whittier Police Department along with Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire-Rescue arson investigators and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) are working together to determine the cause of the fire and who may have been responsible.
