Serving search warrants is a dangerous task. Officers
never know what is waiting for them on the other side of
a door. The Whittier Police Department Warrant Entry
Team is a highly trained tactical unit specializing in
serving high-risk search warrants.
The Entry Team is comprised of twenty-one patrol
officers, broken into two separate squads. When they are
not patrolling the streets, these officers are hard at
work training and preparing for the next warrant. The
Team works closely with the Investigations
Division in preparing and prosecuting cases against
suspects.
Narcotic related search warrants have become the team
specialty. In the recent years, the team recovered a
large amount of narcotics such as methamphetamines,
marijuana and cocaine. The team also recovered numerous
pieces of equipment such as scales, laboratory equipment
and packaging materials used by drug dealers to produce
and distribute illegal drugs.
The Entry Team also conducts warrant service on
outstanding fugitives and parolees at large, taking them
into custody and keeping them behind bars.
